Alberta Jones, 90, from Clarksdale, MS, passed away Saturday June 18, 2016 at Merit Health Northwest Hospital. She was born November 18, 1925 in Memphis, TN to Rev. Dr. S.L.A. Jones and Callie Laster Jones.

She was a music educator with the Clarksdale Municipal School District for 38 years and her choruses were recognized for superior performances. She was a part of numerous organizations that include the Les Petites Amis Social Club, The Federal Club, Community Concerts of Clarksdale, & the American Legion Auxiliary.

Visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2016 from 1pm-5pm. The family wake will follow from 6pm-8pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 25, 2016, 12pm, at Haven United Methodist Church with Elder Ozell Landfair officiating. Burial will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Jones. She leaves 3 children: Oscar C. Wright, Jr., Ernelle Wright Sills, & Pamela Jones Haskins; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
