Anderson Lenard Jr. was the third child of sixteen born to the late Anderson Lenard Sr and Queen Lenard. Anderson Lenard Jr was 87 years old and he passed away peacefully at his home in Baton Rouge, LA on January, 13, 2016. He was born August 22, 1928 to Anderson Lenard Sr. and Queen Lenard. Anderson accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He graduated from Aggie High School. Anderson was on track to receive his PHD from Indiana State University until he had to return home to help his wife raising their children. He is still known as one of the fewest blacks that had an opportunity to attend the university in Indiana on a full scholarship to pursue a greater education. He was an active solider in the Korean War from 1951-1953. He was a Civil Rights Activist. He was a freedom rider, marched with Medgar Evers and even Martin Luther King Jr. Anderson was also a Purple Heart recipient. He was a teacher for over 30 years. He was the overseer of the elections commission in Clarksdale, MS for WARD 4 for many years. Anderson possessed five master degrees and 1 specialist degree from Jackson State University and Indiana State University . He was a member of the COI Board of Directors. He was married in June of 1971 for 40 years to Aljean Lenard. He was proceeded in death by his son; Anderson Lenard III; his wife; Mary Aljean Lenard. His father, Anderson Lenard Sr. His mother, Queen Lenard. His siblings, Sylvester Lenard, Rosie Lenard, Dr. Roosevelt Lenard Sr., Georgia Bee Woods, Daisy Lee-Lenard Cole, Henry Lee "HL" Lenard, Allen Quincy Lenard, Llewellyn Bernard "LB" Lenard, Catherine Lenard-Ragsdale, Josephine Lenard-Harper, Dempsey Lenard, and Marvis Lenard. Anderson would always be remembered as a leader, a motivator, and one of the greatest men of his time. Visitation will be Friday, January 22, 2016 from 1pm-5pm at Royal Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016, 12:00 PM at New Bethel MB Church, 101 18th Street, Clarksdale, MS 38614. Rev. Nathaniel Pollard will be officiating. Burial will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, Hwy 61S, Lyon, MS. He leaves to cherish in his memories two daughters; Latonya Lenard and Katrina Lenard Adams. One brother: Lewis Brown.
