Reflections of Life
-Annazette Turner-
On March 16,1962, the newest and final addition to the family of Will Henry and Lucille Turner was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi. With her caramel tone, beautiful smile, mild tone, and warm embrace, you couldn’t help but to love her.
Annazette’s siblings Will, Larry, Linda, Leon, Darnell and Bernadette were elated to have their baby sister arriving soon. Early on, she assisted her mother at the family restaurant and night club Turner’s Grill where she had many duties to fill. Annazette did those things with dignity and pride. At an early age, she was baptized at Silent Grove M.B. Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. Butler. After completion at Aggie Agricultural High School in 1980, Annazette attended Coahoma Community College where she studied Early Childhood Education.
Annazette then took her studies to teach kindergarten at Sherrard Elementary school for 3 years. After resigning from Sherrard Elementary she then began to work for the Department of Human Services where she retired after 28 years of service to the state and community.
Annazette enjoyed life in her very own special way. She loved to fellowship with her family and close friends. She enjoyed gardening in her yard, shopping in thrift stores, traveling, listening to jazz, trying different cuisines. She found joy talking to her children daily especially when they were all together, spending time with her grandkids, her traveling friends, visiting her siblings. Annazette also found joy in eating turnip greens, fried catfish, different seafood dishes, homemade pound cake, dressing but her specialty was making southern soul food.
The Twenty-sixth day of April will forever have emblazoned on her family’s memory. Annazette became suddenly ill on that fateful night and valiant day suddenly, she summoned to her parents Lucille and Will Henry, son Terrence and brother Leon Turner. Because the Bible said to be absent from the body is to be present in the Lord, God received her peacefully and lovingly.
Visitation will be Friday May 8, 2020 from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home. A graveside memorial will be held Saturday May 9, 2020, 12:00 PM at Oakridge Cemtery located at the intersection of Lee Drive and Oakridge Road.
Annazette was preceded in death by her mother Lucille, father Will Henry, maternal grandparents Ethel(John)Lane, and paternal grandparents Jim(Bessie)Turner, son Terrence D. Turner, and brother Leon Turner. In the wake of devastating loss, Annazette leaves to cherish her children Rodrikeus Turner, Valencia(Grady)Turner. She is also survived by her siblings, Will (Arlean)Turner, Larry(Etta) Turner, Linda Turner-Terry, Darnell Turner and Bernadette Turner. 4 grandchildren Jabrea Turner, JaNayla Turner, Devin Turner and Autumn Hill. 1 great granddaughter Bra’Lynn Janai Turner. A host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.
