Annie Mae Atkins was born to the late Roma and Odia Mae Atkins (Allen) in Tutwiler, MS and later moved to Clarksdale, MS in which she was a resident for over 50 years. Born July 10, 1944, Annie was called home on November 28, 2016. She professed her faith in Christ at an early age at White Stone M.B. Church in Davenport, MS. She later joined the New Life Fellowship Church of Clarksdale, MS. Annie attended school up until the 11th grade. She later continued her career in the food industry as a chef at Resthaven, which is still today a prominent restaurant in the Clarksdale community. Visitation will be Friday, December 2, 2016 from 1pm - 5pm at Royal Funeral Home. The family hour will follow from 5pm-6pm. The funeral service will be Saturday, December 3, 2016 at New Jerusalem M.B. Church, 11:00 A.M., with the Rev. Glynn Bridgeforth Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at McLaurin Memorial Gardens in Lyon, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents: Roma Atkins and Odia Mae Allen; her son; Tyrone Atkins; her niece; Anita Johnson. Those left to celebrate her life and treasured memories include her four children: Cynthia Atkins Moore (Cleveland) of Robinsonville, MS, Carolyn Atkins Beyah (Dawud), Lasandra Atkins, both from Memphis, TN, Michael Atkins of Clarksdale, MS; one sister; Shirley Johnson of Columbus, GA; five grandchildren; Anthony Atkins (Latoya) of Mankato, MN, Michael Thomas, Marquise Thomas, Jamicheal Thomas, Tyler Thomas, all of Clarksdale, MS; four great grandchildren; Daqun Simon, Makayla Atkins, Aniya Atkins, Antianna Atkins, all of Mankato, MN; two god daughters; Teresa Thomas of Clarksdale, MS, Tikiki Mebane (Gary) of Honolulu, Hawaii; two nieces; Lisa Johnson Parker, Stephanie Helms, both of Columbus, GA; a host of great nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Royal Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
