Atlean Carter Gaston known by her family as “lil sister” was born on January 5, 1949 to the late Alex and Olivia Carter in Webb, MS.
Her husband George Gaston; son Gimmie Dale Gaston; siblings, Lucille Outlaw, Josie Rucker, Ora Lee Smith, Ethel Mae Carter, Jannie Lee Carter and Willie Carter proceeded her in death.
Atlean accepted Christ at an early age developing a profound relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Atlean attended West District School in Sumner, MS. She got her GED while attending a workforce adult program in Clarksdale, MS.
As an adult Atlean worked at Wonder Bread in the early 80’s. Later she decided leadership was one of her callings, so pursued her dreams of working in restaurant management, leading teams at McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken. She later worked at the Coahoma County Sheriff department where she later retired. Atlean had a heart for people and loved everyone. Atlean joined the First Apostolic Church where she was a faithful member up until her final days. She truly loved her church family.
On November 21, 1967 she was united in holy matrimony to George David Gaston, whom she met when they were 8 years old. They were married 54 years.
On Thursday November 14, 2024. Atlean transitioned from her earthly life, to begin her spiritual journey with Christ.
Visitation will be Friday November 22, 2024 at Royal Funeral Home from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held Saturday, June November 23, 2024, 1:00 PM, at First Apostolic Church with Elder Samuel Melton Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at McLaurin Memorial Gardens.
Atlean leaves to carry on her legacy children George David (Terri) Gaston, Jr., Gregory Dole (Shartique) Gaston, Mary Jean Huggins, George David (Ramona) Thomas and a daughter in law Katrina Mullins Gaston, siblings, Betty (Randoph) Carter, god-sister Ruby Jean Walker, 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 3 sister-in-laws, 3 brother-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
