Beatrice Washup was born on May 5, 1944 to the late Richard and Sarah Ratliff in Doddsville, MS. She was the 9th of 11 children. God saw fit on Friday, July 15th that it was time and wrapped His loving arms around Beatrice and whispered, " Come~ take your rest."
Beatrice accepted Christ at an early age and gave her life to Christ through baptism. Her faith was strong, she was open-hearted and cared for others wholeheartedly. She loved her family and she cared for many people.
Beatrice met L. T. Washup in 1961 and to that union 9 children were born. Beatrice is preceded in death by her late husband, L. T. Washup; her parents, Richard and Sarah Ratliff Sr.; one son, Dewayne Washup; one daughter, Teresa Ann Washup; 3 brothers: John Henry Shelton, Richard Ratliff Jr. and Van Ratliff Sr.; and 3 sisters: Addie Ree Jones, Daisey Mae Burrough and Annie Mae Taylor.
Visitation will be Friday June 22, 2022 from 4pm-6pm at Royal Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be Saturday July 23, 2022, 11:00 am, at Greater Centennial MB Church with the Rev. Charles Huddleston officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
Beatrice leaves to cherish her memories 3 sons: Willie James (Gloria) Ratliff of Memphis, TN; Charles Ratliff and Ivory Washup, both of Clarksdale, MS; 5 daughters, Annie R. Marbley, Gale Ratliff, Dorothy R. Brownlee-Craig, Katrina Washup, and LaQuita Washup, all of Clarksdale, MS.; 2 sisters, Magnolia Jones of Detroit, MI and Zeolia Willilams of Memphis, Tn; and 1 brother, Sammie Ratliff of Memphis, TN.; 6 that she raised as her own: Johnnie Burrough of Memphis, TN, Charlene Williams of New Albany, MS, Innette Bass of Greenwood, MS, Antonio Ratliff of Greenwood MS, James Washup of Arkadelphia, Ark and Beatrice Ratliff of Clarksdale, MS; 28 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, and friends. She also leaves to cherish her memories a special niece~ Sarah Ann Burrough of Greenwood, MS and a long time friend, Larry Willis of Clarksdale, MS.
