Life Reflection
Mrs. Bernice Curtis Herring was born to the late Isom Curtis and Alberta Sneed Curtis in Holland, Ms. In this union there were 13 children born. Bernice was the fifth child.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Dick Herring, 3 children: Alberta Thomas, Earnest Waters, and Eddie Curtis, 3 sisters: Margaree C. Franklin, Edna C. Stewart, and Mary D. Curtis, 6 brothers: D. C. Curtis, Benny Curtis, J. N. (Dorothy) Curtis, Jimmy (J.D.) Curtis, James Curtis and Calvin Curtis.
Bernice confessed hope in Christ at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Roundaway, MS under the leadership of Rev. G. W. Galloway.
Education for Bernice began at Roundaway Elementary School. She later furthered her college education in various parts of Mississippi. She later moved to Memphis, TN in 1961 and worked as a cook at Gridiron Restaurant. After many years of living in Memphis, TN, she decided to return back home in Clarksdale, MS in 2018.
Bernice made her heavenly transition on Monday, September 2, 2024.
Visitation will be Friday September 20, 2024 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday September 21, 2024, 1:00 PM, at Royal Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
She leaves to cherish 3 sisters: Beatrice Curtis of Clarksdale, MS, Josephine Wilder of Chicago, IL, and Mamie (James) Griffin of Batesville, MS; 10 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 10 Great-Great Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a special niece Capedra (Tina) Matthews.
