Bessie Lee Kelly-Dangerfield was born April 16, 1950 to the late A C Kelly Sr. and Nella Mae Wingo-Kelly in Duncan, MS. She was the seventh born of fourteen siblings. She was preceded in death by both parents, three sisters, Elnora Kelly-Mitchell, Mattie M. Kelly and Florence Kelly-Marshall, one brother A C Kelly Jr. She graduated from Coahoma Agricultural High School and Coahoma Junior College. She worked at Clarksdale Hospital as a scrub nurse. She later moved to White Plains and became an overseas telephone operator at American Telephone and Telegraph Company. Also, she worked for New York Telephone Company.
She later married Ed Maggitt; from that union, one son was born, Eduardo Maggitt. Later, she married Theodore Dangerfield in Clarksdale, MS, on July 18, 1979, and they moved to Zion, IL. She became an entreprenuer owning a variety store, Treasure Chest. She retired from Illinois Veteran Hospital. Later, she moved to Clarksdale, MS. She became a member of Christ The King Ministries. She served as church mother and Deaconess.
A public visitation will be Thursday January 21, 2021 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private ceremony will proceed for immediate family members only. The burial will be at Heavenly Rest Cemetery with Dr. Jimmy Williams officiating.
She leaves to cherish memories her devoted husband Theodore "Doc" Dangerfield and her son Edouardo Maggitt and grandson Edouardo Linus Maggitt Jr, stepdaughter Dauphine Dangerfield. Brothers: John (lrma) Kelly Helena, AR; Lawrence (Sylvia) Kelly,Terry, MS; Marshall (Marilyn) Kelly, Jacksonville, MS. Sisters: Essie Green, Marietta, GA; Janice Kelly-Marshall, Clarksdale, MS; Christine (Jimmy) Williams, Coahoma, MS; Ruthie (Ezell) Addison, Clarkdale, MS; Bobbie Kelly-Maddox, Clarksdale, MS; Sandra Kelly-Pittman, Helena, AR; One step-sister Lucille (Johnny) Cummings, Clarksdale, MS; Host of nieces and nephews. Lillie Hall was a good friend.
