Claby "June-Bug" Powell Jr.

Claby Powell Jr. was called home on February11, 2024. He was born on January 2, 1936, to the late Mr. Robert Powell and Corine Hill Powell. He confessed his belief in Christ at an early age. He served as a volunteer for 20 plus years at the Clarksdale Care Station. He devoted Dialysis patient for over 37 years. He loved people and mostly his community. He loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday February 23, 2024, from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home.  The Celebration of Life will be Saturday February 24, 2024, 1:00 PM at Lord of Glory Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.  

He leaves to cherish her memories his lifetime companion, Martha B. Shields of Clarksdale, MS; 2 sons Sammie Shields and Tommy (Lakinda) Shields of Clarksdale, MS; 2 daughters~ Linda and Patricia Shields of Clarksdale, MS; 4 surviving siblings, Hosea, Julia Mae, Roosevelt and Mary Jean Powell; grandchildren Daniel (Brenika Rosser) Shields , Clayton Shields, Corderro Shields, Shakela Shields, Veronica Dotson, Latoya Dotson, Shameka Dotson, Tommy Carr, Ronnie Phillips, Stevonna Washington, Jeremy Coleman, Marcuerio Banks; a sister-in law, Mary Shields; special daughters and sons, Lucille Dotson, Aretha Carr, Ella Shields, Ellar Samuel, Sophia Martin, Willie Mae Walker, Tom Jackson, Jerry Bailey and Jerry Fraizer; Nieces and nephews Joanna, Veronica, Patricia, Paige, Antonio, Ronnie, Jerome, Steve, and Michael Powell, Cassandra and Billy Joe Johnson, Sannetta, Myisha, Sammy T., Devon Shields, Derrick Higgins, Dawn Shields Wilson and Yvette Shields Gardner~ and a host of loving family and friends.
