Clyde Ingram

Mr. Clyde Lee Ingram was born on October 14, 1943, in Rich, Mississippi, to the late James H. Ingram and Virginia Lenard Ingram. He transitioned peacefully on May 17, 2026, at the age of 82.

Mr. Ingram was a hardworking and highly respected Automotive Exhaust Specialist whose name became well known throughout Clarksdale and beyond. In 1971, he became the first muffler specialist in Clarksdale, beginning his career with Mr. James Patterson alongside Mr. Johnny Maddox. He later worked for Mr.  Bennett Bailey at Downtown Muffler in 1979 before continuing his long career with Mr. Paul Pearson at Pastor Kevin Wiley Sr. Delta Muffler, where he remained until his health began to fail. His knowledge, skill, and dedication in the automotive exhaust business earned him the trust, respect, and loyalty of countless customers throughout the years. Known by many as “Mr. Legion,” he was loved and trusted by all who relied on him for car maintenance and repairs.

Beyond his profession, Mr. Ingram was a devoted husband who shared more than 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Delores Ingram (“Mrs. Low”). He was also a deeply caring family man who remained closely connected to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren — not only as a grandfather, but also as a true friend. His life was filled with experiences, wisdom, strength, and love for his family in his own unique way. Throughout the years, he created countless memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be Friday, June 5, 2026 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home.  The Celebration of Life will be Saturday June 6, 2026, 12:00 Noon at New Beginnings MB Church, 531 Cherry Street, Clarksdale, MS 38614.  Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. Rev. Fredrick Hemphill will be officiating.  Rev. Alan L. Blake, pastor.  

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores Ingram (“Mrs. Low”); his parents, James H. Ingram and Virginia Ingram; his brothers, James “Jack” Ingram Jr., William Ingram, and Eugene Ingram Sr.; his sister, Shirley Elizabeth Hughes; his daughter, Debra Denise Ingram; and his grandson, Michael Ingram.

Mr. Ingram leaves to cherish his memory one son, Artra Lee Jones of Nashville, Tennessee; and three daughters, Jacqueline L. Jones of Memphis, Tennessee, Dewanda Beasley of Killeen, Texas, and Tomika Bates (Benjamin) of Jackson, Mississippi.

He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Lamarcus Gary (Gennesiea), Tequila Gary, Jasyme Jones Gibson, Taquilla Beasley, Kaylee Hunt, JaNesha Johnson, Herbert L. Johnson, Terrance Gary, TaNesha Gary, Brooklyn Bates, and Jaidan Kennedy; 22 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends; and his lovely sister-in-law, Katie B. Ingram.

Though our hearts are heavy, we are thankful for the memories, lessons, laughter, and moments shared throughout his life. His presence, wisdom, and legacy of hard work and love will continue through the generations of family and loved ones he leaves behind.
