Codie L. Smith, 62, of Clarksdale, MS passed away Wednesday February 3, 2021 at Merit Health. Codie was born August 18, 1958 to Willie Watkins Sr. and Virgie Mae Smith.
Codie was a lifelong resident of Clarksdale, MS. Codie was a member of Silent Grove M.B. Church. Codie was known throughout the community as the neighborhood candy man, and his passion for cooking, especially his famous "Codie Burger". Codie also loved fishing, painting, puzzles, and most of all, spending time with his family. The fun, excitement, and joy he had will forever rest in the hearts of many.
Visitation will be Friday February 12, 2021 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home. Please adhere to all COVID-19 guidelines. The family hour will follow from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM. The Celebration of Life will be Saturday February 13, 2021, 12:00 PM, at Union Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. Charlie Jackson officiating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there is a limitation on how many people can enter the building so the family has requested that the funeral ceremony be limited to family and close friends. All COVID-19 precautions will be given before entering the building and mask must be worn. If you are not feeling your best or running a temp, please stay home. The committal will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
Codie was preceded in death by his brother Steve Smith.
Codie leaves to mourn his passing his wife of twenty eight years Hazel B. Smith ; parents Willie Watkins Sr. & Virgie Mae Smith; six children Sharrhonda Williams, Nikki Williams, Kacy Williams (Bliss), Leonardo Moore, Christopher Williams (Le'Andria), Jeremy Williams; seven sisters Lillie Gilkey, Sonya Watkins, Brenda Smith, Sheri Smith Jones (Robert), Wanda Smith Curb (Terrell), Toccaro Garmon, Precious Garmon; four brothers Willie Watkins Jr., Antonio Smith (Rose), Tyrone Smith (Carol), Travis Garmon Sr.; a special friend Daryl Jenkins; sixteen grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.
