Darius Deon Dampier, affectionately known as “Decon,” departed this life on November 30, 2025, in the comfort of his home after bravely battling Multiple Sclerosis at the young age of 33.
Decon gave his life to Christ at an early age at Dramatic Grace & Faith Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Apostle Lee Harris Jr. After he left Ridgway High School, he began working at Kroger. As he started earning his own income, Decon enjoyed spending time with friends and living life to the fullest. He loved attending basketball games at the FedEx Forum and was an avid Los Angeles Lakers fan.
Decon had a heart as big as gold. Though he didn’t take many pictures, he created countless memories with those he loved. He embraced life in his own way until his illness overcame him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerrold Chambers; grandfathers, Willie B. Dampier Sr. and John Chambers Sr.; grandmother, Earnestine Dampier; uncle, Kenneth Sims; and aunt, Lisa Duncan.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother, Linda Dampier; grandmother, Minnie Chambers; one brother, DeCedric Dampier (Memphis, TN); two sisters, Shequita Dampier and Raquel Cooper (both of Memphis, TN); three beautiful nieces; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Decon is now free from pain and suffering. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want…” (Psalm 23).
