Doris Ann Little was born November 29, 1944 in Jackson, MS to the late Ardelia Strong and Alton Singletary. She and her sister were raised by their late maternal aunt and uncle Ms. Carrie S. Green and Mr. Evander Julius Green. She was baptized at an early age at Bell Grove Baptist Church.
“Ann” or “Doris Ann” as she was referred to by those that she grew up with was educated the Clarksdale Public School System and Immaculate Conception. She graduated from Immaculate Conception in 1964. As a young woman she was married to the late John Little. Over a period of years Ms. Little bore six children – Reginald Strong (Penny), Shon Strong, Mia Wallace (Darryl), Monica Strong, Jennifer Little and Art Little.
She was a person who enjoyed life, she liked to dance and sing, was very funny and very direct and although she was direct, she was very charismatic and people were drawn to her and wanted to be around her. Her sister, children, grand-children and great-grand children have many stories and memories of her life with them. If you knew her, you know that what you saw is what you got. She was not one to be phony – if she liked you, you knew it and if she didn’t you knew it as well. Ms. Little was everything to her children, she played the role of mother and father. Every year her children, grand-children and great-grand children would come home to visit with her to celebrate Thanksgiving and her birthday. It was the one time that they were all able to be there together, these times were very special and gave her family the opportunity to show her how much they loved and appreciated her.
Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2019 at Royal Funeral Home from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM. The Celebration of Life will be Saturday July 6, 2019, 11:00 AM at Union Grove MB Church. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
