Mr. Earnest L. Curtis who was affectionately known to many as 6’9 and to some as Ebay. He began his journey on August 6, 1974 in Clarksdale, MS with his mother Beatrice Curtis. He was the third child among the three children of his mother. Our beloved Earnest transitioned from this earthly life at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven, MS on September 21, 2025.
Education for Earnest began at Roundaway Elementary School. He thereafter attended Coahoma County High School where he graduated and received his high school diploma. From there he attended Coahoma Community College where he received his degree in Automotive Service Technician. Continuing his education, he attended Northwest Community College along with Valley State University.
When he was all done with his education, he began to pursue his career where he started out driving for Coca Cola in Memphis, TN., then came Budweiser in Clarksdale, MS. After that he headed over to Batesville and joined the Pepsi Cola team. At this time, he was all rode out so he decided to go to the casino game and started working at Horseshoe casino where he and his sister worked side by side for several years. After that Earnest decided to take a break for a while. In February of 2025, he decided to get back in the trucking game where he joined Delta Technical College and refreshed his driving skills. On September 11, 2025, he took his CDL test and passed with flying colors as usual. On September 22, 2025 he would have been picking up his license, but God called him home the day before. From sister to brother I just wanna say JOB WELL DONE!!!! AND I SALUTE YOU.
Earnest confessed hope in Christ at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksdale, MS under the leadership of Rev. M. L. Long.
Earnest leaves to cherish his memories his loving and caring mother Beatrice Curtis of Clarksdale, MS. He will also be missed by his children, his 3 daughters: Catrice(Avram) King of Alligator, MS, Tyra Curtis of Southaven, MS, and Zykiah Curtis of Lincoln, Nebraska; 3 sons: Demetrius Thomas of Clarksdale, MS, Travarian Curtis of Tunica, MS, and Earnest Curtis Jr.(EJ) of Robinsonville, MS; His siblings: 1 sister Cheryl (Mark) Curtis of Clarksdale, MS, 1 brother Troy Curtis of Kileen, TX; 1 sister-n-law Kamilah Taylor of Kileen, TX. 2 nieces: Keiara Harris and Teia Johnson of Clarksdale, MS; 4 nephews: Orlando Simon Jr., Troy Johnson, and Jermarkeus Carpenter, all of Clarksdale, MS and Michah Curtis of Kileen, TX; 2 aunts: Josephine Wilder of Chicago, IL and Mamie(James) Griffin of Batesville, MS; and a host of loving and devoted cousins, friends and other relatives.
