Mrs. Earnestine (Davis) Whitfield was born to the late John Henry Davis and Annie Thomas on May 12, 1930 in Itta Bena, Ms. Mrs. Whitfield departed this life on February 12, 2020 at the Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale, Ms.
Mrs. Whitfield worked for the Clarksdale Police Department as a crossing guard for over 35 years in which she retired. Mrs. Whitfield was a member of Centennial M.B. Church and where she gave most of her service as an usher. To help out her community Mrs. Whitfield joined the Order of the Eastern Stars where she served as an active member until she wasn’t able to continue. Mrs. Whitfield also dedicated her life to raising her children and supported her husband making her an excellent homemaker.
Visitation will be Friday February 21, 2020 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home. The family hour will follow from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. The Celebration of Life will be Saturday, 1:00 PM at Greater New Centennial M.B. Church, 200 5th Street, Clarksdale, MS 38614. The burial will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, Lyon, MS.
Mrs. Whitfield was preceded in death by her father and mother, (John Henry Davis and Annie Thomas) a son, (James W. Whitfield) a daughter (Elizabeth (Whitfield) Vortice and a niece Demetrious (Miece) Whitfield.
She leaves to cherish her memories, four sons – Monroe Whitfield (Linda Faye) of Clarksdale, Ms., Robert E. Whitfield (Patricia) of Jacksonville, AR., Karl Whitfield (Syreeta) Atlanta, GA., and Andre Whitfield of Hattiesburg, MS.; two daughters – Linda Whitfield of Clarksdale, MS., Karol(Will, deceased) Williams of Clarksdale, MS, and a host of grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren.
