Erma (Jean) Lee Hunter was born February 27, 1940 to Ellis Taylor and Maggie Taylor. Erma was a resident of Clarksdale, MS for forty plus years. Erma accepted Christ at an early age at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. F.W. Williams. Erma was a nurse at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center and later began working at S.L.A. Jones center continuing her passionate care for senior citizens. Erma later joined in holy matrimony to Clyde Hunter.
Erma later moved to Waldorf, Maryland in 2008 with her daughter, Mary, due to her declining health. Erma joined Tabernacle of Praise O.F.W. Baptist Church, Waldorf, Maryland in 2016 under the leadership of Pastor Antonio Matthews.
Visitation will be Friday, April 5, 2019 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 6, 2019, 1:00 PM at New Bethel M.B. Church, 101 18th Street, Clarksdale, MS, preceded by a visitation beginning at 12:00 Noon. Rev. Nathaniel "Chuck" Pollard will be officiating.
Erma was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ellis & Maggie Taylor; husband, Clyde Hunter; five sisters; Ruby Boone, Alice Davis, Dorothy Taylor, Virgie Taylor, Jean Alice Taylor; 3 brothers, Tommie Taylor, Ellis Taylor, Aaron Taylor.
Erma leaves to cherish her memories 3 sons, Dana (Brenda) Hunter, Ellis (Jeannie) Hunter, David (Winsome) Hunter; 1 daughter, Mary Hunter Jenkins; 1 brother, Earnest Taylor (Velma); 5 sisters, Sherrie Taylor Mangle (Warren), Mearline Cannon (Donald), Sadie Mitchell, Louise McCray, Tina Taylor; a play sister, Annie Mae Parnell; a play daughter, Saundra Pace; 2 God-children, Leon Tribble, Calvin Banks; 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
