Obituary Erma C. Lee was born May 9, 1952, to Joe Wyms and Carrie Maxie in Duncan, MS. She departed this life at the age of 72.
Erma C. was a faithful member of Union Temple M. B. Church where she served as a choir member and later became part of the mother board. She also served many years spreading the gospel through song with The Morris Singers and The Bells of Joy of Clarksdale, MS. She was actively involved in the community as an Alderman woman and the Health Council. She worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant for over 40 years at Chateau Manor Nursing Center in Shelby, MS and Oak Grove Retirement Home in Duncan, MS. She was a dedicated member of Foster Grandparents at Brooks Elementary in Duncan, MS. She fully retired September 2023. She wore many hats in the community, but she still made time to unselfishly support her son and daughter as a proud PTA member during their grade school years.
The Celebration of Life will be at Old Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1308 Lake Street, Shelby, MS 38774. Rev. Donell Maxie will be officiating. Rev. J.M. Tribune, Pastor. Burial will follow at Union Temple Cemtery, Booga Bottom Rd., Duncan, MS 38740.
Erma was preceded in death by her father, Joe Wyms; mother, Carrie Maxie; husband, Robert Lee; 1 brother, Tommy Toliver; 2 sisters, Evie Mae Burton and Juanita Sigle; 1 grandson, Derrick Hampton.
She leaves to cherish her memories to 2 daughters, Jennie Johnson of Clarksdale, MS, Robin (Reemount ll) Lee of Senatobia, MS; 1 son, Willie (Glenda) Burton of Cordova, TN; 1 sister Buella Maxie of Duncan, MS.; 3 brothers, Frank Maxie Jr. of Memphis, TN, Benjamin Maxie of Greenville, MS, and George Maxie of Duncan, MS; 5 grandsons Terry (Veronica) Hampton, LaMorris Hampton, Brandan Johnson, Braxton Burton and Da’Von Lee; a host of great grands, great-great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
