Fred a.k.a. "Moonbear" Johnson, 77, of Greenwood, MS passed away on October 18, 2018 at home. Fred was born May 28, 1941 in Greenwood, MS.
Fred was a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University where he obtained his Master's degree in Education and was inducted into the MVSU Athletic Hall of Fame on November 9, 2007.
Fred was also a teacher and coach for Coahoma County School District for forty plus years where he was boy's football, girl's basketball, girl's softball, and track coach.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 26, 2018 at Royal Funeral Home from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The Celebration of Life will be Saturday, October 27, 2018, 2:30 PM, at King's Temple M.B. Church. Rev. Fredrick L. Ford of St. Paul MB Church, Cleveland, MS, officiating. Burial will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, Lyon, MS.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Johnson; 2 brothers, Willie Thompson, Q.D. Jackson; 1 sister, Thelma Logan
Fred leaves to cherish his memories 2 sons, Maurice (Adrian) Johnson, Darius (Fanesia) Johnson; 1 daughter, Veda Johnson; 4 sisters, Elizabeth Johnson, Mildred Logan-Watson, Daisy Livingston, Carmensita Powell; 7 grandchildren, Octavian Johnson, Katherine Johnson, Timothy Burton, Aaron, Keenan, Kartevious, and Khyrshun Johnson; a special nephew, Richard Logan; a host of other relatives and friends.
