Gladys Mary Marbley

Gladys Mary Marbley was born June 20, 1962 to Mary Lee Martin and the late Curtis Butler, Sr.  Gladys confessed her hope in Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age.  She was a dedicated member of Dennis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Gladys was united in holy matrimony on September 9, 1989 to Eddie Lee Marbley and was blessed with four children.  On November 3, 2020, she completed her earthly journey.  Gladys was known as a very dedicated person and a hard worker.  Gladys was also known for spoiling her children, grandchildren, Godchild, and nephew Johnny “Jody” Ashley, who she raised as her own child.  Gladys was employed with Sonic Drive-In for 29 ½ years and Colts Cradle Daycare Center for 2 years.

Gladys was preceded in death by her father Curtis Butler, Sr.; two brothers Curtis Butler, Jr., Michael Martin; grandmother Margaret “Modear” Chaney.

Visitation will be Friday November 13, 2020 at Royal Funeral Home from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM.  A graveside memorial will be held Saturday November 14, 2020, 11:00 AM, at Oakridge Cemetery with the Rev. L.C. Tyler II officiating.

Marbley, Lisa Marbley, Doris Marbley, all of Clarksdale, MS.; one Godchild Alexis Crumb; seven sisters Rosie (William) James of Clarksdale, MS, Claretta (Samuel) Pittman of Shelby, MS, Denise (Ricky) Walker, Cynthia Butler, both of Alligator, MS, Valery (Westley) McCloud-Johnson of Chicago, IL, Teresa (Antonio) Goggins of Orlando, FL, Bobbie (James) Johnson of Tupelo, MS; seven brothers Johnny (Linda) Chaney, Eddie Butler, Anthony (Sonja) Butler, all of Clarksdale, MS, Curtis McCloud of Decatur, IL, Joseph Butler of Milwaukee, WI, Carl Riley of Alligator, MS, and Kelvin Butler of Arlington, TX; nine grandchildren Andreakia Boyd, Andrew Boyd, Aquives  Boyd, Adarrius Boyd, LaDarrius Marbley, CaDarrius Marbley, LaTrevius Marbley, CaDarrian Marbley, Treveon Scott; six very special friends Andrew Boyd, Asa Scott, Stephanie Taylor, Jacqueline Sims, Carl Pam, Jr., Sheena Collins; three great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
