Glenda Faye Banks, 54, of Clarksdale, MS, died Saturday May 4, 2018 at Merit Health. Glenda was born March 10, 1964 in Clarksdale, MS to James L. Banks, Sr. and Chancy Lee Dixon.
Glenda confessed her hope in Christ at an early age while attending Oakridge M.B. Church, Stovall, MS, under the leadership of R.H. Hedrick. Glenda later joined Liberty M.B. Church, Lyon, MS, under the leadership of former pastor, Marvin K. Myles, Sr.
Glenda was a graduate of the Clarksdale High School Class of 1982 where she was a cheerleader. Glenda further advanced her education by obtaining her Associates of Arts degree at Coahoma Community Jr. College.
Visitation will be held from 1pm - 5pm Friday, May 11, 2018 at Royal Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at St. Clara M.B. Church, Mullens-Williams Rd., Lyon, MS with the Rev. Marvin K. Myles, Sr. officiating, Rev. Anthony Burns, Pastor. The burial will follow at the Anderson Chapel Cemetery, Hwy 322 Bellview Community.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, James Lee Banks, Sr. and Chancy Lee Dixon-Banks; 1 brother, James Lee Banks, Jr.; 2 sisters, Shirley M. Banks and Mabel Banks.
Glenda leaves to cherish her memories 1 son, Michael Lamar Banks; 3 sisters, Jean B. Simmons of Cordova, TN, Betty Banks, Sabrina (Andre') Pittman, both of Memphis, TN; 1 brother, Tyler Corneal (Juanita) Banks of Clarksdale, MS; 2 aunts, Katherine Johnson of Clarksdale, MS, Willie M. Banks of Hayti, MO; 1 grandchild, JaDaeya Deaer; 3 kids that she was caregiver of, 2 great-nieces, Camyla Banks, Shakayla Banks, and a great-nephew, Jordan Norris; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
