Obituary
To everything there is a season, and time for
Every purpose under heaven. A time to be born,
And a time to: a time to plant, and a time to
Pluck up that which is planted. Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
Our loved one departed this life at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 10:45 a.m. Jack was born May 23, 1931 to the late Jack Butts and Dessie Carter in Belen, Mississippi. He attended the public schools in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Jack was a dedicated hard-working factory worker most of his life.
Jack was united in holy matrimony to Rosie Lee Brown on July 26, 1956 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. They enjoyed forty-five years of marriage. To this union six children were born. His wife Rosie (2001), and two sons preceded him in death – Bobby Betts (1994), and Carl Betts (1996) and one brother Joe Willie Butts (2000).
Jack confessed hope in Christ later in life and joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend J.B Woods.
He leaves to cherish his memory, three sons Jack Betts, Jr of Millington, TN, Don (Vickie) Betts of Bartlett, TN, Derrix (Tiffany) Betts of Orlando, FL; one daughter, Ruby Jackson of Southaven, MS; one brother, Donald Ray Butts of Jackson, MS; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchild and eight great great-grandchildren and host of nieces and cousins. He also leaves a special cousin, Myra Jean Turner, who was a lifelong dear friend.
“Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden;
and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
