James Trotter Obituary

James was born on December 17, 1964, in Vance Mississippi to Arthur and Bobbie Trotter.  He was affectionally called “Bubba” by his family and friends.  He transitioned from his earthly home on July 23, 2021, at Methodist South Hospital in Memphis TN.  He joined True Bibleway Church at an early age under the leadership Bishop Fred Monroe Dawson, where he immediately bonded with the Dawson, Suggs, and Hicks families as friends and church members.

James attended Clarksdale Municipal School District before transferring to Coahoma County School District and graduated in 1983. He also played football at Coahoma Community College. James was a huge sports lover, with the New York Giants being his favorite team. He cherished his children and grandchildren. His family was also very precious to him, especially his siblings, nieces, and nephews. He was unquestionably the biggest supporter, enthusiast, and boastful uncle.

After Coahoma, he joined the US Navy in 1989 and served on the USS Aubrey Fitch. He completed the Surface Communication System Operator course in the military and served as a radioman. He served until 2006, receiving an honorable discharge and a number of awards and medals, including the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with Bronze Star, and the Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, as well as his CDL license.

He married Bobbie Galmore in September of 1985. In November of 2020, he married Carolyn Kirkwood.
