Jerry Lee Furr

Jerry Lee Furr, age 64, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023 at his home. Jerry Furr was born to Hattie McGee-Lynn on January 22, 1959 in Mattson, Mississippi. He received his GED in 1977 and began attending Coahoma Community College to complete his certification in machine shop and became a certified mechanic. In the past 3 years, he was currently attending CCC to continue his education in the trade of welding. In February 1979, he was called to active duty for the United States Army. Jerry continued to serve his country in the Army Reserve until his discharge from active duty with the ending status of Sergeant. While he has worked as a cook and truck driver in his lifetime, his main career was working for the city of Clarksdale in several positions for nearly 20 years. Jerry accepted the Lord as his Savior at a very young age, but decided to get baptized again in Friars Point, Mississippi in 1991.

He will forever be loved by his family and friends.  Jerry is survived by his children Catrina Furr-Smith, Catina Harris-Anderson, Latasha Wilson-Gore, Kawanda Furr, Lakeisha Wallace-Williams, Jercarlos Kyles, Kenny Thomas and former spouse Theodora Furr. He is also survived by his life partner of 23 years Annette Carr, a host of sisters, brothers, grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and three brothers.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 in the chapel at Royal Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. located at 507 Ashton Avenue in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Viewing will be available for public two hours (11:00am-1:00pm) before services.
