Johnny Lathan Obituary

Johnny B. Lathan was a loving husband, amazing father, doting grandfather, loving brother, uncle, and friend. He along with his twin sister Lillie B. Lathan were born in Friars Point, MS on March 10, 1950, to the late Johnny and Lillie Lathan. He and his twin were the youngest of the Lathan family. He confessed his belief in Christ at an ealry age and was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Milwaukee, WI.

He met the love of his life Devella (George) Lathan in Friars Point and they were married in 1985. The union lasted thirty-nine years and produced three loving children. Johnny began his educational career in Coahoma County, MS but the yearning for a better life led him away from the Mississippi Delta.

Johnny was determined to provide a better life for his family and relocated to Milwaukee, WI, where he spent forty-five years. He workied ni manufacturing companies and was a cross-country truck driver for over fifty years. Johnny enjoyed life and a good Green Bay Packers game, as wel as al other sports surrounded by family and friends. He departed his earthly life on June 21, 2024 with his wife Devella by his side.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Lillie Lathan, his siblings Virgie Lee Lathan, Jerutha Lathan, Eugene Lathan, Johnny Lathan. Jr, Lillie B. Lathan, Ethel Banks, and Freman Lathan. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Devella Lathan of Milwaukee, WI, 2daughters, Lisa Rainey(Daniel) of Midlothian, Texas, Audrey Oates(Percy) of Conway, Arkansas, 1son Johnny George(Tywana) of Milwaukee, WI, 5grandchildren, Mark, Jawoun, Torian, Jayona, and JaNiya, 1great-grandson, Jaiden al of Milwaukee, WI, and 1 brother Henry Mays of Friars Point, MS. He will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
