Lacy Owten, born on February 26, 1943, in Quitman County, Mississippi, to the late Charlie and Lois Owten, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024, at the age of 81.
From a young age, Lacy demonstrated a deep faith, accepting Christ early in life and becoming a dedicated member of New Bethel M.B. Church. He frequently attended Metropolitan M.B. Church as well, enriching his spiritual journey and community involvement. Lacy received his education in Dublin, MS, and began his career at Clarksdale Ready Mix, where he worked diligently for many years. He later pursued his passion for mechanics by opening his own garage, where he became a beloved figure in the community, known for his willingness to help with vehicle repairs. Lacy's career also included a significant tenure at Coahoma Community College, where he served as a supervisor and took on numerous roles, earning the respect and affection of his colleagues and students. After retiring from Coahoma, Lacy returned to his garage and also worked for Ancor, continuing to contribute his skills and joyful spirit.
Visitation will be Friday May 17, 2024 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday May 18, 2024, 11:00 AM, at Metropolitan MB Church. Burial will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
