Mrs. Leartra Percy Coleman was born January 12, 1939 in Coahoma County to the late Eldora Rucker and George Percy Sr. Leartra was also a lifelong resident of Coahoma County.
Leartra confessed her hope in Christ at an early age at Zion Traveler M.B. Church in Farrell, MS under the leadership of the late Rev. E.H. Harris where she was a faithful servant and member, singing in the choir, attending Sunday School, chairperson of the kitchen ministry, and serving on the mother’s board. Leartra received her education at McCloud Jr. High School.
In 1956, Leartra was united in holy matrimony to Mr. E.B. Coleman, Sr. in which three children were born.
Visitation will be Friday, November 23, 2018 at Royal Funeral Home from 1PM - 6PM. The Celebration of Life will be Saturday, November 24, 2018, 2:30 PM, at Union Grove M.B. Church, 2237 North State Street, Clarksdale, MS 38614. Rev. Lorenzo Windless, pastor of Zion Traveler M.B. Church, Farrell, MS, officiating. Rev. L.C. Tyler II, pastor of Union Grove. Burial will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
Leartra was preceded in death by her mother, Eldora Rucker, father, George Percy, Sr.; her husband, E.B. Coleman; 3 brothers, Lynnwood Dixon, Rev. Henry Percy, and McKinley Strong; 3 sisters, Addean Rucker, Janice Percy, & Gloria Bobo.
Leartra transitioned from her earthly remains and gained her heavenly robe on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 9:50 P.M. at her home in Farrell, MS.
Leartra leaves to cherish her memories 3 daughters, Annette Thomas, Sandra Coleman, Debra Anderson, all of Farrell, MS; 4 sons, Willie (Lillian) Coleman of Rena Lara, MS, Rev. E.B. (Verdella) Coleman of Milwaukee, WI, James (Shirley) Coleman of Clarksdale, MS, Jerry L Coleman of Racine, WI; 5 sisters, Mandae (Dennis) Carter of Milwaukee, WI, Carolyn (Alfonza) Buford of Clarksdale, MS, Dorothy (Edgar James) Walker of Columbia, MO, Juanita (Ronnie) Kirkwood of Farrell, MS, Ruthie Percy of Tulsa, OK; 6 brothers, Georgy Percy Jr. of Stovall, MS, Robert Crockett, Milton (Irene) O’Neal, Edward (Patricia) Bryant, all of Chicago, IL, Rev. Eddie (Carolyn) Dixon, Dennis Rucker, both from Milwaukee, WI; 1 aunt, Ida White of Farrell, MS; 2 sister-in-laws, Deloris Percy, Rosie Strong, of Los Angeles, CA; 1 special godson, Brian McCray, of Clarksdale, MS; 10 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including special friends, Dorothy Jenkins, Florence Thomas, & Almeta Wilkins.
