Lillian “Shugg” Wilkins was born June 24, 1948 to the late Houston Wilkins and Catherine Wilkins in Farrell, Mississippi. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Zion Traveler’s Missionary Baptist Church in Farrell, Mississippi, in later years she moved her membership to Greater Seekwell MB Church in Clarksdale, MS until their closing and then moved to New Hope Baptist Church in Jonestown, MS under the leadership of Reverend Emmanuel Lackey until her death. Shugg loved the Lord and she did not mind letting the world know. She was a member of singing groups The Gospel Tones, Gospel Travelers, The Wilkins Singers, and she led her grandchildren and godchildren in The Heavenly Voices.
Vistiation will be Friday August 7, 2020 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be held Saturday August 8, 2020, 11:00 AM at New Hope MB Church Lot, 495 S Church Street, Jonestown, MS 38639 with Rev. Emmanuel Lackey officiating. Burial will follow at the Heavenly Rest Cemetery, Lyon, MS.
Lillian “ Shugg” met the love of her life Charlie B. Williams in 1965 and they were united in holy matrimony August 24, 2013. Within this union their were 5 children and their only son Jerome Wilkins, grandsons: Travis Wilkins, Jemale Williams, and Ke’Iris Strong preceded her in death. She also had 3 brothers WL Wilkins, JW Wilkins, and Cecil Wilkins and 3 sisters Beatrice Reed, Dorothy Harris, and Charlie Mae Wilkins that preceded her in death.
Lillian “Shugg” was called to eternal rest on July 23, 2020 at 2:35 pm at Methodist North in Memphis, TN with her daughter Bobbie and granddaughter Brandi by her side.
She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories her loving husband Charlie B. Williams of Jonestown, MS, four daughters: Bobbie (Johnny) Haile of Clarksdale, MS; Sylvia Reed of Tallahassee, FL; Linda (Bryant) Fields of Robinsonville, MS, and Patricia (Darron) Sykes of Fort Pierce, FL. Fifteen grandchildren Brandi (Chauncy) Tribble of Southaven, MS; Latora (Vernon) Davis of Tampa, FL; Cherokee Wilkins of Gulf Port, MS; Letarius Williams of Fort Pierce, FL; Shatarius Williams, Shania Haile, Jerome Wilkins, Michael Barfield of Clarksdale, MS; JeMarcius Williams, Katurah Fields, and Marissa Fields of Robinsonville, MS; Bryant Fields Jr of Greenwood, MS; Jalen Hunter of Senatobia, MS; DeAlexandria (Quincy) Jones of Sumner, MS; and Darron (Edith) Barfield of Fresno, CA; 26 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, God-children, other relatives and friends.
