Marcus Landell Matthews

A TIME TO BE BORN AND A TIME TO DIE
On a warm fall day on September 3, 1976, in Shelby, Bolivar County, Mississippi, a handsome, healthy baby boy, Marcus Landell Matthews was born to Joann and Henry Jones, Sr. He was the first of four children born to this union. Marcus was united in holy matrimony to Carla Williams on September 21, 1998. Marcus departed this earthly life on
Saturday, November 21, 2021, in Norfolk, Nebraska.

A TIME TO ACCEPT CHRIST
Marcus dedicated his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Greater Centennial Baptist Church in Clarksdale, Mississippi; but was a member of the New Centennial Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor J. A. Seals.

A TIME FOR EDUCATION
Marcus attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School, W. A. Higgins Junior High School and graduated from Coahoma Agricultural High School in the class of 1995. Marcus was a football player for the Mighty Tigers of C. A. H. S. He graduated from Mary Holmes Community College in May 1998.

A TIME TO WORK/ENJOY
Marcus was employed at the Good Life Counseling in Norfolk, Nebraska. Marcus was an enthusiastic sports fanatic. He also enjoyed being around family and friends.

FUNERAL DETAILS

Visitation will be Friday December 3, 2021 from 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM at Royal Funeral Home.  The Celebration of Life will be Saturday December 4, 2021, 2:30 PM at Carr Chapel M.B. Church.  Burial will follow at the Carr Chapel M.B. Church Cemetery.

A TIME TO REMEMBER
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents, Joann Collins Jones and Henry Jones, Sr.; His maternal grandparents Beulah and Cleo Collins; His paternal grandparents Ada and Roy Jones; as well as other relatives. He leaves to cherish his memories are his wife Carla Williams Matthews of Clarksdale, MS; three (3) sisters, Altramesa (Johnny), of Clarksdale, MS; Ada (Stanley), of Snellville, GA; Chicara (Jared), of Fayetteville, N.C. Two (2) brothers, Henry (Shanika) of Memphis, TN; and Trony Thomas of Bakersville, CA. Five (5) aunts Joyce Collins and Janie Wynne of Clarksdale, MS; Elizabeth Windless of Memphis, TN; Mary Holly of Atlanta, GA; Dorothy Jones of Dallas, TX, and one (1) Uncle Kenny Collins of
Clarksdale, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
