Mrs. Margaret Jean Jamison, a beloved mother, grandmother, and educator, was born on December 18, 1936, in Etta, MS, to Claud and Carrie Smith. She was baptized at an early age and was a dedicated member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the guidance of Rev. Gregory Buchanan. Margaret transitioned from her earthly life peacefully on December 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
In her personal life, Margaret married Sidney Jamison, with whom she welcomed two cherished sons. She graduated from Liberty Hill High School and pursued further education, earning degrees in Education from Ole Miss, Delta State, and Valley State University. She devoted her career to shaping young minds as an educator in the West Tallahatchie School District until her retirement.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Carrie Smith; her loving husband, Sidney Jamison; her brother, Lentillius Smith; and her dear mother-in-law, Evelyn Mosby.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, cherished by her sons, Frederick Jamison and Terry Jamison, and her grandchildren, including Marcodevel (Peaches) Townes, Monterrance (Stephenie) Collins, and Freteisha Chestnut. She also delighted in the presence of her great-grandchildren: Sinnarity Love, Londen Butler, Marterrius Collins, Syerah Townes, and Greyson Chestnut. Margaret is remembered fondly by a host of relatives and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Her life was a testament to love, education, and faith, and she will be deeply missed.
