Marie Higgins Jones

Marie Higgins Jones, 61, passed away Wednesday November 24, 2021 at home.  Marie was born January 16, 1960 in Clarksdale, MS to Marie Turner Higgins and Joe Willie Booker. 

Marie was the loving mother of four children however she was also a mother figure to many of her family members and other children in the community.  Marie was affectionately know as Stine, the candy lady, and "Mrs. Gasman."  Many grew to love and befriend Marie for a lifetime.  Marie was also known for her companionship and partnership with her late husband, Arthniece "Gasman" Jones who was a skillful musician, harmonica player, and an expert concrete man while specializing in other carpentry skills.  

Visitation will be Thursday December 2, 2021 from 1pm-4pm at Royal Funeral Home.  The Celebration of Life will be Friday December 3, 2021, 11:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home with Rev. James Jackson officiating.  Burial will follow at McLaurin Memorial Gardens.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Arthniece Jones; mother Marie Turner Higgins, and father Joe Willie Booker; a brother Joseph Higgins.

Marie leaves to cherish her memories one daughter Mitizi Sayler of Hendersonville, TN; three sons Derrick Higgins of Jackson, MS, Timothy Brown of Birmingham, AL, Emmanual Higgins of Clarksdale, MS; two sisters Willie Sorrel and Shirley Wilson; four grandchildren Christopher Higgins, Zachery Sayler, Timothy Brown, Jr., Emmanuel Higgins, Jr. ; a host of other relatives and friends.
