Maryland Alberta Holland Walls

Maryland Alberta Holland Walls was born September 18, 1936, the second daughter of Charles Holland and Doshie Johnson Holland in Clarksdale, MS. Her family referred to Maryland as Alberta.

Alberta was educated in the Coahoma County School District. She moved to Chicago in the late 50’s early 60’s and continued her training. She was a certified Nursing Assistant until her retirement.

In August 1952, Alberta gave birth to a beautiful daughter, whom she named Shirley Ann, with her husband, Albert Baker. She later married Bert Walls of Chicago, IL.

One of her darkest days occurred on July 04, 1974, when her only child Shirley Ann, went missing and has not been located for almost 50 years. Alberta took on the task of loving and caring for her only grandson, Henry, who resided with her until she took her last breath on Friday, May 10, 2024, in Chicago, IL.

Visitation will be Saturday May 25, 2024 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home.  The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM.  Burial will be at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.  Rev. James Jackson will be officiating. 

Alberta was preceded in death by her father: Charles Holland; her mother: Doshie Johnson Collins; her brothers: Charles Holland, Jr, Calvin Smith, Jr., James Holland, Otis M. Smith, and Sammy Holland; her sisters: Charlean Holland Taylor and Mildred Smith Outlaw.

Alberta leaves to cherish her memories her Mother Dear: Eva M. Holland of Chicago, IL; grandson: Henry Scott of Chicago, IL; three brothers: Napoleon Collins, Jr., of Glendale, AZ,  Johnny (Anita) Holland of Gary, IN, Samuel (Debra) Collins of Chicago, IL; five sisters: Christine Holland Little of Chicago, IL, Maxine Holland (Charles) Rollins of Chicago, IL, Eva Holland (Dan) Lynch of South Holland, IL, Angela Holland (Roger) Nabors of Hephzibah, GA,  Dianne Collins Mitchell of Clarksdale, MS. and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
