Mattie Jones

Mattie Jones went home to be with the Lord at Delta Northwest Health Hospital, Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Mattie (Aunt Mattie) as called by many was born, September 12, 1935, in Lula, MS to John and Laura Bean. She begins her education at Lula Public Schools. Mattie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior and was baptized in Moon Lake in Coahoma County.

During her early adult life, she moved to Chicago, Illinois where she met and married husband, George Brooks Jones (deceased) in 1962. She spent her professional career at General Electric Company where she worked for over 40 years.

She moved back during retirement to Clarksdale, Mississippi in early 2000. She moved into Federation Towers and became active volunteering at nursing facilities being an inspiration to many. In 2020, she moved into Clarkdale Nursing Center where she continued to encourage other residents.

Graveside Service will be held Saturday August 27, 2022, 10:00 AM, at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.

Mattie leaves to cherish in her memory Ann Woods (Usley) sister of Bartlett, TN. She was preceded in death by her mother and father John and Laura Watson and two sisters: Maggie and Peggy, Brothers: Louis Henry, Ned, and George. Although she had a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, she spoke often of Katie Davis (niece) Carl Davis (nephew) of Bolingbrook, ILL, Michelle Johnson (niece) of Memphis, TN, and Joseph (nephew) Lesley and baby Elena. Her two very special friends are Ms. Giselle Taylor of Collierville, TN and Ms. Lisa Campbell, Manager at Federation Towers in Clarksdale, MS.
