Michael Starnes Obituary

Michael Lavell Starnes was born to Michael Wade and Earnestine Harris on August 14, 1981, in Chicago, IL.

He accepted Christ at an early age at Greater Centennial M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Lacey B. Reed.  Michael attended Sunday school faithfully and he was a member of the youth choir.  His favorite song that he so spiritually led was “One More Sunny Day.:

Michael attended Clarksdale & Coahoma County School Districts.  He was a graduate of Aggie High School – Class of 1999.

He was a dedicated employee of Gateway Tire & Service Center where he enjoyed meeting new customers, laughing & joking with his co-workers; he even enjoyed cooking breakfast sandwiches for his co-workers.

Michael was a die-hard “Pittsburgh Steelers” fan.  He has the privilege of attending several games with his son.  He had a special love for the City of Clarksdale and gave back to the community by founding “The Golden Path,” a non-profit organization with over 150 members, also co-founded by his dear friend whom he loved as a brother, Sammie Clark.  “The Golden Path” spread abroad to several states such as Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Illinois.

Michael had a true gift of love for children.  However, he was a devoted father of one son.

On June 12, 2024, the Lord decided it was time for Michael to receive his ultimate reward, Peace, and called him home.

Michael reunites in heaven with his mother, Earnestine Starnes Hankins-Harris, his father, Michael Wade & Grandfather Joseph Hankins.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories one son:  Malik Lavell Starnes of Atlanta, GA; one sister: Jamyla (Anthony) Evans of St. George, Utah; one nephew: Teric Trotter of San Antonio, TX; two nieces Aleah and Avery Evans both of St. George, Utah.  He also leaves Maurice Donell Mason, whom he loved dearly and called “Pops” to cherish his memories.  Michael will be missed by a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends whom he loved like family.
