Mother Bernice Foster Obituary

2 Timothy 4:7-8

I have fought a good fight I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

“A Time to be Born”

Bernice was born on March 14, 1922 to Jack Robinson and Katie Smith of Dickerson, MS. Bernice confessed a hope in Christ when she was 10 years old under the leadership of the Pastor Jasper Williams. Bernice wore many hats in the vineyard under the leadership, Pastor S. M. Quinn~ a choir member, usher, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School BTU, congress, National Baptist Convention, piano player, President of the Usher board, under the leadership of Pastor Michael Moore a Mother on the Mother Board, a faithful member, and great prayer warrior. Bernice was educated at the Mount Ary Church School, at Mount Ary Church later she attended the Adult Basic Education at Coahoma Junior College where she obtained her G. E. D. and graduated with honors. Bernice loved to read her bible. Bernice was employed by Coahoma Opportunity Inc., along with being a domestic worker for over 15 years.

“A Time to Multiply”

Proverbs 18:22 says that “He who findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtained favour of the Lord.” The late L. C. Foster found Bernice and they were joined in holy matrimony in 1947, to that union six children were born and 2(two) bonus children.

“A Time to Die”

Bernice departed this life March 8,  at her home in Clarksdale, MS. Preceding her in death her husband L. C. Foster, her parents Jack Robinson, and Katie Smith (2) daughters Naomi Tyson & Maggie Johnson, (2) sons L. C. Foster Jr., & Willie McAway Sr. (2) sisters Dora Thompson & Mildred Crowder (4) grandsons Nathan Tyson III, Antonio Lewis, Johnny Rose Jr., Willie McAway Jr. an uncle and Aunt Arthur & Ethel Smith, a niece Cozetta Myles and (1) son-n-law Robert Davis Sr. (2) great-grandchildren Gianna Rose and Gianni Rose.

"Funeral Details"

Visitation will be held Friday March 14, 2025 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home.  The Celebration of Life will be Saturday March 15, 2025, 12:00 Noon, at Mt. Ary MB Church.  Burial will follow at Mt. Ary Cemetery.

“A Time to Mourn”

Psalm 126: 5-6 “Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping bearing seed for sowing. Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Those who are left to celebrate her life and treasure her memories are her beloved daughters Vernice (Henry) Smith, of Belleville, IL., Louise Davis of Plano, TX, Elizabeth(Willie) Hooper of Clarksdale, MS, Cora(James) Minor of Belleville, IL., A granddaughter she raised and loved of her own Sharon Foster Rushing of Plano, TX, (21) grandchildren, (77) great-grandchildren, (30) great-great grandchildren. Her love touched the lives of her niece, cousins, and many friends. Special thanks to Mother Foster Personal Care Worker Cornilla Butler, Laskya Sample, Rogtrerssa Sims and Erika Ringo.
