On a cool and cloudy day, Dec.19,1977 a beautiful baby girl was born to the late Elvira Bryant and the late Ed Harper Sr. in Clarksdale, MS.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and became a baptized believer at Mt. Carmel MB Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Lloyd Johnson. She was educated in the Coahoma County School district and was a 1997 graduate of Coahoma County High School. She was employed in many different capacities before her health failed.
Shawander was preceded in death by her parents, Elvira Bryant and Ed Harper Sr., grandparents, Orangie Bryant and Jessie Ford, brother, Mario Harper, sister, Sanquanette (Michelle) Harper.
Early in the morning, Wednesday, Jan.11, 2023 God saw the hills getting harder to climb and a cure was not to be found. He whispered gently. She slipped into eternal rest at her home.
Visitation will be Friday 01/20/2023 from 1pm-4pm at Royal Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Mt. Moriah MB Church, Bobo, MS and the burial will follow at Locust Grove MB Church, Alligator, MS. Rev. Emmanuel Boone will be officiating.
Cherishing her memories are her children, one son, Johnny Hawkins III, one daughter, Jamya Harris both of Clarksdale, MS; Two brothers Bryan Bryant of Clarksdale MS, Ed Harper Jr. of Jackson, MS; One Godson, Cameron Pryor of Clarksdale, MS, Two God sisters, Leslie Brooks and Yashekia Brumfield, one uncle, Henry (Vera) Onar of Chicago, IL; Three aunts, T. S. Bryant of Chicago, IL, Eva Bryant of Memphis, TN and Regina Bryant of Milwaukee, WI. One special cousin/brother Melvin Bryant II who served as her caregiver. Special friend, Charles Robinson. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish her memories.
