From Mourning to Morning, from Grief to Glory “An Angel in Disguise “Susie Mae Burt.”
Susie Mae Burt, 73, departed this life and went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2022. Susie was born to the late Arthur Brown Ranson and Bobbie Lee Ranson in Clarksdale, Mississippi on December 15, 1943.
In 2000, she was joined in holy matrimony to Amzi Barial Burt, Jr. where they lived together in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Together they raised 6 children: Bobbie Jean Ranson, Mary Ann Ranson (Deceased), Samantha Burt Barnes (Morris), Jennifer Renea Ranson, Amanda Serenity Bell (Orlando), and Lashunda Denise Ranson.
She is survived by her sisters, Reola Ranson, Gladys Ranson, Dorothy Ranson, Mary Mae Ranson, and Ruby Yarbra, her brothers, James Ranson and Willie Edward Ranson, 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and honorary family members.
Visitation will be Friday January 14,2021 from 1PM-5PM at Royal Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be Saturday January 15, 2022 at New Hope M.B. Church. 1:30 PM. Burial will follow at McLaurin Memorial Gardens.
Susie is preceded in dead by husband, Amzi Barial Burt, Jr., daughter, Mary Ann Ranson, granddaughter, Josephine Sanchez Ranson, sister, Bobbie “Bitty Bob” Lee Ranson, and her brothers, AD Ranson, Hezekiah Ranson, Walker Ranson, Sammie Lee Ranson, and Arthur Ranson.
Although Susie only had an elementary school education, she earned her Bachelor’s in Love, Master’s Degree in Loyalty, and Doctorate’s in Family. Susie specialized in bringing joy and laughter to both the Ranson and Burt family. She was also notorious for nicknaming her grandchildren: Amziah, “ShakeEmUp,” Zyilah “Missy”, Octavian, “Pea Time,” Kenzi “Kiwi”, and Rhi’lee, “Peppermint,” and, Youndris “Ding Ding.” Susie was the glue that held everything together and she was an inspiration to everyone she encountered. She did not mind taking anyone in. She welcomed strangers and called them family.
