Timothy Burrel, Sr.

A soldier, leader, educator, and most of all a loving devoted husband and father

Timothy was born on February 18, 1943 in Lyon, MS to Rev. George and Rosie Burrel, who preceded him in death.

In 1963, Timothy graduated from Coahoma Junior College.  Later that year, he enlisted into the United States Army until being honorably discharged in August 3, 1972.  He then served in the United States Reserve for more than thirty years before retiring on November 15, 1996.  His education continued with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at Mississippi Valley State University in 1966.  Timothy received a Master's degree in Media Science and a Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Mississippi in 1977.  He received a Doctorate in Divinity from Jacksonville Theological Seminary in May 2006.

During his lengthy educational career, Timothy served as a media specialist, teacher, photographer, and principal.  He served the community in various capacities as: a minister, member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., 4th District Masonic Lodge and a past member of Coahoma County Board of Supervisors.

Visitation will be Friday, March 15, 2019 from 1:00 PM- 5:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home, 507 Ashton Ave., Clarksdale, MS 38614.  The family hour will follow from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM.  The Celebration of Life will be Saturday, March 16, 2019, 11:00 AM at Liberty M.B. Church, 104 Killebrew St., Lyon, MS 38645.  Burial will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, Lyon, MS.

Timothy is also preceded is death by three brothers; William Burrel (Willie *Deceased*), George W. Burrel (Ossie *Deceased), Lewis Burrel, Sr. (Lorene)

Timothy is survived by his loving wife of fifty years Mary Clark Burrel and three children; Timothy Burrel  Jr., Terrence D. Burrel, Sr. (Melissa), and Morika M Burrel; six sisters, Blanche Ray (Jimmy *Deceased*), Alsie Wilkins (John *Deceased*), Zola Hudson (Preston *Deceased*), Mildred Burris (Willie *Deceased*), Mary Collins (Levi), Patricia Seals (Edward, Sr.); one brother, Leon Burrel (Earnestine); eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.
