On August 23, 1961 was a glorious day for Mr. Clarence Lee Edwardsand Mrs. Bertha Walton in Vicksburg, MS. On that day God ordered the rising of the sun on a bouncing baby boy, Tommie Lee "Tom Cat" Wright. This day was full of joy because he was mandated the purpose for his life.
Tommie confessed his love for Christ at an early age. He visited New Bethel M.B. Church in Clarksdale, MS with his mother.
Tommie attended the Clarksdale Municipal School District. He worked many years at The Oil Mill in Jonestown, MS, and Casinso in Tunica County. He was a member of Semi Pro Basketball at Higgins School. He became self-employed such as doing yard work, landscaping, and washing vehicles. Tommie will be remembered in the neighborhood by always riding his bike.
Tommie fought the good fight. He have kept the faith. He has finished his course. The Lord dispatched one of his angels to Regional One in Memphis, TN at 10:15 AM to collect the soul of His Child, Tommie Lee Wright.
Visitation will be Friday July 7, 2023 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be Saturday July 8, 2023, 12:00 Noon at New Bethel MB Church. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
Tommie was preceded in death by his five sisters Linda Wright, Fluorine Wright, Priscilla Wright, Barbara Wright, and Ulonda Walton.
Holding dear to his memories and waitng their glorious reunion is his parents Clarence Lee Edwards of Edwards, MS and Bertha Walton of Clarksdale, MS; son, Tamera "Katt" Allen; Four grandchildren: Tamera Jr. and Londynn Allen of Clarkdale, MS,Tamarri Allen of Robinsonville, MS, and Dallas Arrington Allen of West Helena, AR; one sister Demetress Thomas of Dallas, TX; Four Brothers Alfred Walton of Clarksdale, MS: Robert (China) Wright of Omaha, NE, Tracy Walton of Clarksdale, MS, Lamar (Tasha) Banks of Clarksville, TN; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
