Reflection of Life

Virgie L . Williams “Madea”

Virgie L. Williams “Ms. Doll- Madea” was born May 22, 1925 in Merigold, Mississippi to Ernest Foster and Ethel L. Thomas.  She was the oldest of twelve children. 

Virgie “Madea” attended school in Merigold, Mississippi.  In her early sixties, she attended Coahoma Community College, where she received a degree in Carpentry and Pottery.

She put her faith in the Lord and Savior at the age of twelve.  She lived a life of serving others.  Virgie “Madea” began her work in the church as an usher at Zion Travel Missionary Baptize Church and Lone Oak Missionary Baptize Church, Farrell, Mississippi.  She later in life joined Bradley Temple Church of God In Christ, C.O.G.I.C, where she served as an usher and on the Mother Board.

Visitation will be Friday August 21, 2020 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Royal Funeral Home.  A graveside memorial will be held Saturday August 22, 2020, 11:00 AM at Zion Travelers MB Church Cemetery, Farrell, MS.

Virgie “Madea” was preceded in death by her mother: Ethel Thomas; father: Ernest Foster; ten siblings, four sisters: Rosevell Johnson, Ola Mae Walker, Charlie France Bynum, Lee Doris Foster and six brothers: Earnest Foster, Jr., Johnnie B. Foster, Melvin Foster, L.S. Thomas, L.J. Thomas and Willie Lee Thomas; two daughters: Dorothy Webber and Juanita Townsend.

She leaves to cherish her memories one sister: Essie B. Williams of Omaha, Nebraska; three sons: Gene Mabry (Judy) of Clarksdale, MS; Charles E. Mabry of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Sherman Williams of Decatur, IL; Doretha Banks of Farrell, MS; Lucille Boulton of Decatur, IL; Virglean Clark (Joe) of Farrell, MS; Paulean Perry (Willie) of Decatur, IL. Special mention and acknowledgement of three ladies she held dear to her heart: Ethel Thomas, Allean Thomas and Cle-Ethel Pole.  In addition to her children, she leaves behind twenty-five grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
