Walter Fullilove Jr. Obituary

Walter Fullilove, Jr.

(June)

“For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing”.  2 Timothy 4:6-8

Walter Fullilove, Jr., affectionately known as “June” by his family and friends, was born on October 1, 1947, in Claremont, Mississippi, to the late Walter Fullilove, Sr. and Ruby (Taylor) Fullilove.

He received his early education in the Coahoma County Public School System and continued his studies at Coahoma Community College. Following his academic pursuits, Walter honorably served in the United States Army. After completing his military service, he relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where he was employed for many years with Bell & Howell Equipment Company. As a computer engineer, Walter traveled extensively, installing and maintaining equipment for businesses around the world.

On October 7, 1972, Walter was united in holy matrimony with the love of his life, Mildred (Walls) Fullilove. Their devoted union lasted until her passing in 2010. Walter accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Horeb Missionary Baptist Church in Claremont, Mississippi. After moving to Chicago, he became a dedicated member of Christian Youth Baptist Church, where he served faithfully in the male chorus until his health began to decline.

Walter lived a joyful and fulfilling life centered on family, faith, and service. He was known for his love of family gatherings, where he was the barbecue master and the unofficial family photographer. He took great pleasure in capturing special moments with loved ones and was always eager to host family reunions and holiday celebrations. His generous spirit and warm presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

On March 31, 2025, Walter Fullilove, Jr. peacefully departed this life at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois.
